Services & What We Offer

Details about our moving services and how they work.

What's the difference between full-service and labor-only?

+

Full-Service Move (Labor + Truck): We provide the crew and the truck. Our team handles loading, transporting, and unloading your belongings from start to finish. This is the most popular option for customers who want a hands-off experience.

Labor-Only: We provide the muscle — you provide the truck, trailer, or container. Our crew will load, unload, and rearrange furniture and boxes. This is a great option if you've rented your own U-Haul, PODS container, or have a moving truck already.

Both options come with fully insured, professional movers who treat your belongings with care.

Do you provide trucks?

+

Yes! We have two 26-foot moving trucks available for full-service moves. These are large, professional-grade trucks that can handle most residential moves including multi-bedroom homes.

The truck is included as part of our full-service move option. If you prefer labor-only service, you can provide your own truck, trailer, or container and our crew will handle the loading and unloading.

What types of moves do you handle?

+

We handle a wide variety of moves across Southern California, including:

  • Local Moving — Same-day and scheduled moves within San Diego County and surrounding areas
  • Long Distance Moving — In-state and interstate relocations
  • Commercial & Office Moving — Business relocations with minimal downtime
  • Apartment Moving — Stairs, elevators, tight spaces
  • Senior Moving — Patient, respectful moves for seniors
  • Piano & Safe Moving — Heavy and delicate items
  • Military Base Moving — PCS and on-base relocations
  • Junk Removal — Declutter before or after your move
  • Furniture Storage — Short and long-term solutions

Do you offer packing services?

+

Yes! We offer full-service packing and unpacking with quality materials. Our team can pack your entire home or just the items you need extra help with — fragile items, kitchenware, artwork, electronics, and more.

We use professional-grade packing materials including moving blankets, shrink wrap, and sturdy boxes to ensure everything arrives safely at your new location.

Insurance & Commercial Moves

Coverage, certificates, and what you need to know for commercial relocations.

Are you insured?

+

Fully Insured

Yes, Sutton Movers is fully insured. We carry comprehensive insurance coverage to protect your belongings during every move. This includes general liability insurance, workers' compensation, and commercial auto insurance.

Our insurance gives you peace of mind knowing that your possessions are protected from the moment we arrive until the last box is placed in your new home or office.

What is a COI and how do I get one?

+

A COI (Certificate of Insurance) is an official document issued by our insurance provider that proves we carry active insurance coverage. Many apartment complexes, HOAs, commercial buildings, and property management companies require a COI before allowing movers on the premises.

We provide COIs with 48-hour notice. Simply let us know when you book your move if your building requires one, and we'll have it ready in time. The COI will list your property management company or building as an additional insured or certificate holder as needed.

There's no extra charge for this — it's part of our standard service.

What are the insurance requirements for commercial moves in San Diego?

+

Commercial moves in San Diego typically require movers to meet specific insurance standards set by building management and property owners. Here's what most commercial buildings require:

  • General Liability Insurance: Most commercial buildings in San Diego require movers to carry general liability coverage, typically with minimum limits of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate. This covers property damage and bodily injury that may occur during the move.
  • Workers' Compensation Insurance: Required by California law for all employers. This protects our crew in case of on-the-job injuries and also protects you as the client from liability. Building managers will verify this before granting access.
  • Commercial Auto Insurance: Covers our moving trucks and vehicles while on the premises. This is especially important for commercial properties with parking structures or loading docks where vehicle-related damage could occur.
  • Certificate of Insurance (COI): Commercial buildings in San Diego almost always require a COI naming the property owner or management company as an additional insured. This must typically be submitted 48 to 72 hours before the scheduled move. Some buildings also require the COI to include specific endorsements or coverage amounts.

Sutton Movers meets all of these requirements. We carry full general liability, workers' compensation, and commercial auto insurance. We regularly provide COIs for commercial moves throughout San Diego and can have one prepared with 48-hour notice. If your building has specific insurance requirements, let us know and we'll make sure everything is in order before move day.

Do you handle commercial/office relocations?

+

Yes! We handle commercial and office relocations of all sizes. Whether you're moving a small office, a retail space, or a larger corporate environment, our team is experienced in minimizing downtime so you can get back to business quickly.

We coordinate with building management, handle furniture disassembly and reassembly, and work around your schedule — including evenings and weekends if needed. We also provide the required COI documentation for commercial properties.

Pricing & Payment

Transparent pricing and flexible payment options.

How is pricing determined?

+

Our pricing is based on several factors to ensure you get a fair, competitive rate:

  • Type of service — Full-service (labor + truck) vs. labor-only
  • Size of the move — Number of rooms, amount of furniture and boxes
  • Distance — Local moves are typically hourly; long-distance moves are quoted by the job
  • Special items — Pianos, safes, and other heavy/delicate items may require additional handling
  • Access considerations — Stairs, elevators, long carries, narrow hallways
  • Timing — Standard vs. peak season or special scheduling needs

We provide transparent quotes with no hidden fees. The price we quote is the price you pay.

What payment methods do you accept?

+

We accept a wide variety of payment methods for your convenience:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Discover
  • Apple Pay
  • Zelle
  • Venmo

We make payment easy so you can focus on settling into your new place.
